My abiding interest is in a theoretical and practical understanding of how information is used in routine activity at the operational level and how information systems can be designed to enhance routine action both within and across organizations. Theoretical perspectives I have used include situated action, ecological psychology, activity theory, practice theory, phenomenology, operations research methods, and information theory.
My philosophical orientation is critical realist and I have experience with mainly multiple case study and participatory field work. My approach is strongly theory driven.
